A new endeavor for WMSC: a trip to a museum with tour and concert. The Maine Country Music Hall of Fame was founded in 1978, and the physical Museum, established in 2008, is the only country music hall of fame museum east of Nashville, Tennessee. The 3,000-square foot space, located in the lower level of the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls, Maine, showcases thousands of pieces of memorabilia that help preserve the legacy of its more-than 150 inductees, all from Maine. The beautiful displays tell the history of Maine country and bluegrass music and honor legends such as Dick Curless, Ken MacKenzie, Hal Lone Pine and many others. The 90-minute guided tour will be hosted by knowledgeable Hall of Fame inductees and concludes with a free, live, country music performance. The Museum is wheelchair accessible. Ample parking is available. If there is interest by the registrants, we can book transportation to and from the event for an additional cost. Otherwise, participants can drive themselves/car pool.
