PFAS is a family of chemicals that have been in the headlines across the country due to the discovery of them just about everywhere, their persistence in the environment, and their potential health hazards. Here in Maine, the primary source has been the decades of biosolid (septic sludge) spreading on farm fields that have contaminated hundred of private wells. This presentation will present some chemistry basics, Maine regulatory guidelines, and several case studies.
Keith Taylor is the senior environmental geologist at St. Germain. Keith has achieved an MS in geology and is a licensed geologist is both Maine and New Hampshire.
