Weight & Shadows: An Art Exhibit of Stephanie Herbeck's Work

On Saturday, July 6th, Stephanie Herbeck’s art exhibit Weight & Shadows will open at The Gem from 5 to 7pm. Stephanie is a local artist living in Bethel with her husband and two daughters. Stephanie’s large acrylic canvases capture the beauty of the human face, especially in the eyes.  Many of the subjects in her paintings are representations of people she spent hours watching on the subways as she commuted to work in NYC over the course of 17 years.

“I could feel the loneliness and longing in the far away stares, and I could hear a lifetime of stories carved into the lines on the faces,” writes Stephanie.

The paintings will be on display in the lobby of The Gem and Stephanie will be present to answer questions about her work.
