Substitute Teacher at Gould Academy
We are seeking Substitute Teachers to join our team on an on-call basis. As a Substitute Teacher at Gould Academy, you will play a vital role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment in the absence of our regular teaching staff. The substitute teacher reports to the Dean of Students and will be paid on an hourly basis.
Classroom Management and Instruction: Maintain a structured and engaging classroom
environment conducive to learning, following lesson plans and schedules provided by the
regular teacher. Take attendance at the start of each class.
Adaptability: Be flexible and adapt to various subject areas and grade levels as needed,
providing continuity in the absence of regular teachers.
Behavior Management: Manage student behavior in a fair and consistent manner, adhering to
school policies and procedures, while promoting a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with school administrators, staff,
including reporting any concerns or issues regarding student progress or behavior.
Professionalism: Uphold the values and mission of Gould Academy, demonstrating
professionalism, punctuality, and a commitment to the highest standards of teaching.
Resource Utilization: Utilize available educational resources, materials, and technology to
enhance the learning experience.
? Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
? Obtain CHRC all clear status from Maine Department of Education
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
? Ability to adapt to various subject matters and grade levels.
? Classroom management and behavior management skills.
? Patience, flexibility, and a genuine appreciation for teaching and learning.
? Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
These physical requirements are not exhaustive and additional job related physical
requirements may be added to these by individuals on an as needed basis. Corrective devices
may be used to meet physical requirements.
