About Us

Since its founding in 1988, the Mahoosuc Land Trust has encouraged the public interest in conservation in western Maine. It supports a balance of growth and preservation and emphasizes sustainable forestry, agriculture, and traditional land use. A private, nonprofit organization, the land trust is deeply routed in the community and is governed by an active board of volunteers. It owns islands in the Androscoggin River, shoreland properties, flood plain land and mountain summits. It holds easements on woodlands and lakefronts. Trust properties and easements are located in Albany, Bethel, Gilead, Newry, Upton, Woodstock, Greenwood and Rumford. Our organization is strongly supported by volunteers and if you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact us.

Be sure to visit our website to learn more of what we do and to see the properties we have conserved. Also, you can purchase our Androscoggin River Canoe Map and Trail Guide with a simple click.
